Variables act as placeholders for changeable data. The default value of a variable can be replaced in an object. When working in Author, you can see which objects have been assigned new variable values.

To display variable assignments:

Select a variable, then:

Click Assignments
-or-
-
Right-click and then click Assignments.
The Variable Assignments window opens. You can view in which objects the variable has been assigned a new value.

When you're done, click OK to close the window.
