Author-it's security permissions are set for individual users and for groups of users.
A user inherits the security permissions that apply to any groups to which that user belongs. This makes it easy to change permissions for multiple users at once.
Sometimes there is a conflict between a person's user and group permissions, and this has to be resolved by the software.
