Use the following checklist to prepare your content for import to Author-it. This list is specific to Microsoft Word imports, but can be used as a reference to all pre-import cleanups.

Accept all changes and turn off the markup | ||||

Remove multiple blank lines | In Author, you only need the end of the line break. Styles control the spacing between lines and paragraphs. Search for all double paragraph markers and replace with a single marker throughout your content. | |||
Toggle all field codes to show the content, not the code | Press Ctrl+A to select all your content. Then press Alt+F9 to toggle between text and code | |||

Remove arrows and text boxes | If you have images with arrows or text boxes, take a screenshot of the text box or arrows. Delete the arrows and the text boxes and replace them with the screenshots. | |||
Flatten layered images | If you have images with layers or .ai files embedded in your content, do one of the following:

Adjust the image sizing | Large images that have been adjusted in Word sometimes import with their original size. You can adjust the image size once it has been imported, or do one of the following:
