Author-it Objects

Style - Icon
A style object represents the formatting and layout of characters or paragraphs within the text of a topic object in the Author-it editing environment. All text within a topic object must be tagged with a style object. This way your content will have a consistent and manageable look and feel.

The style object also contains a link to a style in a Microsoft Word template for the printed documentation, a definition for how the same style will be represented in the Windows Help, and a definition for a cascading style sheet (CSS) style in HTML.

Note: In Author-it, you can update properties on all style objects, however there is a small group of style objects that need to retain their original Style object names on the General tab as they are referenced during the publishing process.
