Media Print properties

Author-it Objects

The Print tab contains properties that define the section in the Microsoft Word document. These properties define things like the section start, margins, layout, paper size, headers and footers, and page numbering.

Section start

Allows you to choose how the new section in the Word document will start.

Number of columns

Defines the number of columns in this section. You can have between 1 and 3 columns.

Different first page

Determines if the new section has a different header and footer on the first page.

Different odd and even

Determines if the new section will have different headers and footers on odd and even pages.

Page margins

Defines the distance in centimeters (cm) from the edge of the page to the Top, Bottom, Left, or Right margins of the document. The text of the document will be within these margins.

Page gutter

Defines the amount of extra space you want to add to the margins to allow for binding. The extra space is added to the left margin of all pages if you clear the Mirror Margins property, or to the inside margin of all pages if you select the Mirror Margins property.

Header margin

Defines the distance from the top edge of the page to the header. The distance is measured from the edge of the page to the top edge of the header.

Footer margin

Defines the distance from the bottom edge of the page to the footer. The distance is measured from the edge of the page to the bottom edge of the footer.

Mirror margin

Determines if the inside margins of facing pages are the same width and the outside margins are the same width. This is used for double-sided printing.

Page size

Allows you to choose from a list of standard paper sizes that will define the size of the paper for the section. If the desired size is not available, then you can choose "(custom)" and enter your own dimensions.

Page height

Defines the height of the page in centimeters. You can only change this property if you have selected "(custom)" for the Page Size property.

Page width

Defines the width of the page in centimeters. You can only change this property if you have selected "(custom)" for the Page Size property.

Page orientation

Allows you to choose the orientation of the page for the section:

  • Landscape when the long edge of the paper is horizontal.
  • Portrait when the long edge of the paper is vertical.

Page number format

Allows you to choose the format of the page numbering for the section.

Page numbering

Allows you to choose between continuing the page numbering from the previous section, or starting the numbering at a specific number. If you choose Start At, you can enter a number for the first page of the section to start numbering from.

Page headers

Allows you to choose a Header for the First, Odd, and Even pages of the section, depending on your selection of the Different First, and Different Odd and Even properties. You can choose from the list of valid Headers.

Page footers

Allows you to choose a Footer for the First, Odd, and Even pages of the section, depending on your selection of the Different First, and Different Odd and Even properties. You can choose from the list of valid Footers.
