The variant icons appear next to the regular object icon. This example shows the topic object icon, but the behavior is the same for any objects where variants are used:

The following variant icons appear next to regular object icons only when you are translating content in a single library using Translations. The primary object used for translation is always appears directly above its variant objects used for translation.

In addition to the icons, columns display in the object list for the variant criteria. Each variant has its own column, with the value indicated in the column.
Note: Options for working with variants do not appear in Author until at least one variant criteria has been created.
