Check a topic with Acrolinx IQ

Use the Check Topic option when you want to check the topic currently open in the Editor. Any errors found by Acrolinx IQ are flagged with colored highlighting according to the type of error. As an example, you might see text with the following issues (you can set the highlighting colors through the Acrolinx IQ Options in Word):

Once a topic has been checked, navigate through the flags and correct the content. Suggestions identified by Acrolinx IQ are displayed in the shortcut menu which is displayed for each issue. You can insert the suggestion, manually adjust the flagged content, or bypass the current flag and move to the next flag.

You'll use the options in the Editor's Review tab to check the topic.

To check a topic and make corrections:

  1. Open the Topic in the Editor.
  2. Choose Review > Acrolinx IQ > Check Topic from the Acrolinx IQ command group. When Acrolinx IQ has finished checking the content, an error summary for the topic is displayed and each error in the topic is identified with a colored flag.
  3. Display the shortcut menu suggestions for the flag using one of the options:
    • Use the Previous Flag and Next Flag navigation options in the command group to move between issues (ensure Step-through Mode is on).

      -or-

    • Right-click and choose Acrolinx IQ.
  4. Choose a suggestion from the shortcut menu, or manually correct the item in the topic.

    Important: When you select the option to remove a word from the topic ensure you remove any extra spaces.

  5. Continue the process until all flags in the current topic have been checked, then save the topic.
