KC Author-it Objects

The View History window supports saving and searching history comments. These comments may be optional or compulsory per save, depending on the configured Administration Edit History Settings.
View results for a single object where the history list displays all revisions for the selected object, or for multiple objects where the history list displays all revisions for each of the selected objects.

Search the library for the objects you are interested in, then select the objects and use the View History window. From the window, you can compare two entries for the same object, or export the history records for all of the objects in the window to a CSV file.

From the object list you can also right-click an object and then open it or locate it in the library.

View History options

  • Search: The View History window allows you to filter the object list by searching for the comment text.
  • Sort results list: You can click the column headers to sort the list, for example, base the sorting on release states, date modified, or object description. You can also drag columns to different positions.
  • Copy Review Link: Copies a link to the latest revision of a topic so you can paste it in your browser window to open in Review.

Note:This option is only available if you have Review. The topic entry must have the "review" release state shown in the Release State column. The topic must already have been opened in Review.

  • Export results: Saves the history records for all of the items in the object list to a comma-separated value (CSV) file that can be opened in a spreadsheet application.
  • Compare: Select two history points for the same object to open the selected revisions in the History Compare window.

Object Details pane

The object details pane below the object list, shows information on the selected item in the object list including the object description, creator and object code. When you select two or more objects in the list, the pane shows the total number of selected objects instead.
