The variant icons appear next to the regular object icon. This example shows the topic object icon, but the behavior is the same for any objects where variants are used:

Meaning

Topic Ordinary Object Icon

No variant icons indicate this is a standard object with no variants.

Variant Primary Icon

Indicates this is a primary object has variants.

Variant Topic Icon

Indicates the object is a variant.

Topic Object with Variant Criteria Icon

Indicates this is an object with variant criteria assigned. This object can be a primary object or an object without variants.

The following variant icons appear next to regular object icons only when you are translating content in a single library using Localize. The primary object used for translation is always appears directly above its variant objects used for translation.

Indicates a primary object used for translation that has extra criteria assigned.

Locale Variant Icon

Indicates a variant object used for translation. (locale variant only displayed if using Localize)
