Install Author-it Client - On Premises 6.4

NET 4.6 Framework is a prerequisite on the target machine for installing the client.

Author-it client including Author-it Administrator is installed on Windows desktops/ laptops and the Web Application server (IIS). The last for test and troubleshooting purposes. The services install (Author-it Service.msi) included in the downloaded package (Desktop_Applications_6.4.zip) is not relevant. Installing the client requires .NET 4.6 Framework as a prerequisite.

  1. Double-click Author-it.msi and install the software.

  2. Select Next.

  3. Select Checkbox I accept……..
  4. Select Next.

    Shown is the default install path. This can be changed without problems.

    Older versions can co-exist with newer versions. Change the path of the older version or install the new version in an alternative path from the default install path (where the older one resides).

  5. Select Next.
  6. Select INSTALL.

  7. Select Finish.
  8. Install the license (Author-it Administrator).
  9. (optional) Export the Sample database (Sample.adl) to SQL server.
  10. (optional) Change the library path to a share (UNC preferred) and copy the folders from C:\Program Files (x86)\Author-it\Data to this folder.
