Add columns to a table by using the insert column buttons on the Table toolbar, or the commands on the table shortcut menu (available when you right-click inside a cell). New columns are added to the left or right of the cursor's current location.

To add a new column to a table:

  1. Open the topic containing the table.
  2. Move the cursor to a cell in the table.
  3. Click the Insert Column to Left button on the Table Toolbar, or right-click inside the cell and click Insert Column to the Left from the shortcut menu.

    Click the Insert Column to Left button on the Table Toolbar, or right-click inside the cell and click Insert Column to the Right from the shortcut menu.
