Hide the configuration setting icon - On Premises 6.4

Magellan

Toolbar with annotation2

There is currently no code in the mainstyles.css to hide the Configuration Setting icon, but appropriate code can be added to the themestyles.css for this requirement.

To hide the configuration setting icon:

  1. Open the themestyles.css file in your theme folder.
  2. Add both of these definitions:

    For desktop viewing:

    For mobile viewing:

    /*Settings Icon*/

    ul.top_icons > li:nth-child(3) {

    display: none!important;

    }

    /*Settings Icon*/

    ul.m_top_icons > li.m_top_config {

    display: none!important;

    }

  3. However you now have two definitions describing almost the same thing. It is better to combine them.
  4. Combine the selectors by placing a comma (,) between them. Your code becomes:

    /*Settings Icon*/

    ul.top_icons > li:nth-child(3), ul.m_top_icons > li.m_top_config {

    display: none!important;

    }

    The code for the icon is still generated everytime that you publish and the icon is still in the page, but it is not displayed anymore.

    Pro Tip: Sometimes you need to use the !important property in your css code to make sure the command overrides other css rules.

Using the inspector to identify the icon css class

If you are using the inspector:

  • Hovering over the Configuration Setting icon identifies the icon as a list element.
  • You cannot change the element name li as all list elements will be hidden.
  • You need to look at the parent elements in the hierarchy to find a unique attribute.
  • If you want to also hide the icon for mobile viewing, shrink the page so that it is in Mobile mode and hover over the icon to identify the class.
