Reusing variant criteria values

Object Variants

You can create variants and reuse values already assigned to other objects. The topic explains the rules for doing this.

  • Rule 1: When you create variant objects you cannot create two variants with exactly the same set of variant criteria values.

So Anne could not create two variant objects and assign X2001 and CA to both objects.

  • Rule 2: You can create variants and reuse values already assigned to other objects so long as the variants use different variant combinations

Anne could create another variant using:

    • X2001 only,

    • CA only, or

    • X2001 and CA if they are used with another value (such as release 1.1, as shown in this illustration)
