Start the CMT

Migrating to Author-it Cloud

The first step of the migration procedure is to log in to the copy of your library. If you have not created a copy of your library you'll need to do this first.

External files report

When you log in to your database, CMT creates the external files report. At the end of this step you'll have a copy of the report in an Excel file. Instead of keeping the CMT open, you can use this report while you are working with the files for your library. The Excel report gives you the option to sort the content so you can easily view files that were not found, or sort the content to help you if you're going to make changes to the paths or the folder structure. The Excel file is added to the Logs folder in your CMT folder.

Tip: Keep the Excel file open so you can copy the paths and paste them into the mapping screen in the next step.

To run CMT:

  1. Open your Author-it Cloud Migration Toolkit folder, then double-click the Author-it Cloud Migration Toolkit application (Author-it Cloud Migration Toolkit.exe).

Note: We recommend you show the file type in the Author-it Cloud Migration Toolkit folder as there are several files with the name Author-it Cloud Migration Toolkit.

    The login screen opens.

  2. Type the server name and user credentials for the copy of your database:

Important: Make sure you log in to the copy of the database and not the original.

  3. Click Open Database to connect with your database and run the External File Paths report.
