Workstation requirements

Author-it Modules Installation & Update Guide

Workstations are where Author is used and installed, and are used to access Author-it web applications, such as Review. Workstations have different requirements based on the applications that they’re being used to access, and whether they're being used for publishing.

We recommend using Remote Desktop servers for workstations, hosted on the same hardware as the database server. This minimizes the delays caused by network traffic between the workstation and the database server.

Author Requirements

Hardware requirements

  • CPU: 1.5 GHz minimum

  • RAM: 4 GB (8 GB recommended)

  • Solid State Drive recommended

  • OS: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit) or later

  • .NET Framework 4.8

  • Ports:

    • 1433 Open for outbound connections.

EPS image requirements

  • Ghostscript version 9.52 or earlier

Author requires Ghostscript to generate previews of EPS images. Without Ghostscript, you’ll still be able to use EPS images in file objects, but you won’t see previews of them in topics or the library explorer.

Local publishing requirements

In a standard installation Author processes publishing jobs locally, and workstations require additional software for specific publishing outputs. If Author uses remote publishing, your publishing servers will require this software instead.

  • Antenna House 6.5 or later

  • Ghostscript version 9.52 or earlier

Antenna House doesn’t support EPS images. Ghostscript converts the EPS images to PDF format, so that they can be included in PDF ProCSS documents.

  • Microsoft Word 2010 or later (required for importing Word documents and publishing to Word).
