On-premises requirements, installation, and upgrade guide

We recommend installing the Author-it suite in this sequence.

  1. Prepare your environment - prerequisites that must be met before installing Author-it.
  2. Install the desktop client - the authoring and administration applications. You will also be offered the default data files containing templates, tutorial data, and a sample library.
  3. Install Service Manager - the Service Manager console is used to configure, start, and stop Author-it services.
  4. Install web applications - Author-it web applications such as Contribute, Review and Localize allow users to access and interact with your Author-it library via a web browser.

Note: If your IT team have already set up your infrastructure for you, it's likely the only step you will need to complete is installing the desktop client.
