Output file object settings - On Premises: 6.4

Publishing

The Theme tab of every XML or Resolved XML publishing profile has seven radio buttons to select the settings for the output of File objects in the resolved XML.

The following options are available:

  • Admin: the publication process looks at the settings in Author-it Administrator under Settings > Publishing Settings for how the pictures need to be processed.

If you select none of these, and you have embedded images, the image source information is embedded in the XML. See also Publishing settings.

  • Print transformed means that it will output the picture as defined on the Print tab. If your source file is a PNG, and you define the File object, Print tab, Ouput as field as JPEG, a JPEG will be exported. And if you set any other settings in the File object, these settings will be applied to the picture on publishing.

Note: Print transformed does not work in case you use vector images.

  • Print original means that the original picture file will be published to the publishing folder. In case of embedded pictures, the original picture file is the same for Print, Help and Web. In case of linked pictures, the originals can be different.
  • The radio buttons for Web and Help transformed and original work from the same principle.

If you select Admin, the published output contains picture files with the following prefixes:

  • P: If you select Admin, and in Publishing settings Export linked pictures as files, the linked files on the Print tab are exported with a P prefix: e.g. P_123.png.
  • H: If you select Admin, and in Publishing settings Export linked pictures as files, the linked files on the Help tab are exported with a H prefix: e.g. H_123.png.
  • W: If you select Admin, and in Publishing settings Export linked pictures as files, the linked files on the Web tab are exported with a W prefix: e.g. W_123.png.
  • If you select Admin, and in Publishing settings Export embedded pictures as files, the embedded pictures are exported without a prefix: e.g. 123.png.
