Magellan - mainstyles css sections

  • The DEFAULTS and LAYOUT sections contain basic css elements that apply across the whole site.
  • The HEADER, LANDING, NAVBAR, LEFTNAV, CONTENTBLOCK and RIGHTNAV sections contain css elements related to these sections of the site structure.

Each section is commented to describe how it is laid out and the content element structure. In addition, each individual css element within a section is commented for what it is and how it works. This all provides a good reference for finding css elements.

For the Contentstyles.css file, the sections relate to the content displayed in Contents page mode.

Magellan - Conteentstylse css sections

This example includes all possible sections. The default file contains TABLES, LINKS and CONTENT, but you could add other sections to customize topics, videos, images, for example.

To search the css file:

  1. Open the css file.
  2. Use the logical layout and comments in the file to find the code. See Understand the site structure for a reminder of a Magellan site structure.

Note: You won't always be able to find the specific code. For example, if the element is designed with generic code and not yet specifically described.
