Insert a topic using the split screen in Contribute - On Premises: 6.4

Contribute

Inserting a topic is similar to copying the content from one topic and pasting it into another topic. Unlike embedded topics, the inserted text has no link to the original topic, so you can change the inserted content without it affecting any other topics.

Use the Split view when you need to insert text.

To insert a topic:

  1. In the Editor, open the topic that you want to insert text into.
  2. In the Library Toolbar, click Split to display the Split view.
  3. Select the topic in the folders object list or the search object list and drag-and-drop it at the chosen location in the target topic.

Note: A topic is inserted as a new paragraph in the topic.

  4. Click Insert Topic from the shortcut menu to paste the text into the topic.
