Edit variant values in Contribute - On Premises: 6.4

Values assigned to a variant object can be modified by using the Edit Variant option from the right-click menu. You can add extra variant criteria, change the values for variant criteria, or remove variant criteria from the object.

A variant object must have at least one variant criteria value assigned.

To edit variant criteria values in Contribute:

  1. Display the object in the folder list or search results.
  2. Right-click the object and then click Edit Variant. The Edit Variant window opens and the variant criteria (with values) currently assigned to the object are displayed. You can now remove variant criteria, change a value, or add another value:

To remove variant criteria, simply click the large X to the right of the variant criteria entry.

To change a value, select a new value for the variant from the drop-down list.

To add another variant criteria and value, use the New Assignment button in the Edit Variant window:

    1. To open the Variable Search window, click New Assignment.
    2. To search for specific variants, type a Search term and press Enter. Or to display all variants in the Library, click in the field and press Enter.
    3. Select the Variant (you must select the check box to assign the variant to the topic), and then select a value from the drop-down list.
    4. To add the variant criteria value to the Edit Variant window, click Insert.

If it is necessary to add other variant criteria, repeat these steps.

  3. Click OK to save the changes and close the Edit Variant window.
