Translation process with Translations

Translations

The Translation Job Life Cycle refers to the steps and processes involved from the time the translation job is created to the final import and updates for the translated content. Create and maintain content in Author or the Library and then manage your translation jobs by using Translations. This topic looks at the process in Translations.

Translation Job Life Cycle and Database

Let's look at the main steps in the life cycle:

translation_jobs_groups_new

Create a new Translation Job in Translations

Objects from the Library are added to the job and locale variants of the objects are automatically created (for the first translation). Release states are assigned to the objects.

translation_jobs_groups_download

Download the job from the server

The ZIP file containing the translation job XML file (and any other required files) is downloaded from the server and sent to the Service Provider.

The Service Provider completes the translation and returns the file.

translation_jobs_groups_upload

Upload translated job to the server

The files from the Service Provider are uploaded to the server and made ready for importing into the Library.

Import the draft translation job into the Library

During the import, Translations updates the locale variant objects in the Library with the translated content. Release states are updated against the objects to the draft import state.

translation_jobs_groups_import

Import the translated job into the Library

During the import, Translations updates the locale variant objects in the Library with the translated content. Release states are updated against the objects to the final import state.
