Magellan search speed and performance

Magellan user guide

Magellan websites use the Lunr search engine to perform searches. There are several factors that determine how Lunr searches, and how long these searches take. You can use these factors to reduce search times, or to manage your visitor's expectations around searching.

Website size

Larger Magellan websites will take longer to perform searches.

Server speed

The search speed of a Magellan website is affected by the server it’s hosted on. Faster servers (such as those with more memory and a higher CPU allocation) will result in faster search times. The physical location of the server will also affect search times. The Magellan website will have faster search times for visitors that are closer to the server.

Type of search being performed

Searches that use quotes (exact match searches) are slower than other search types.
