Author is the remote desktop version of the Author-it Windows Client (editor). It is usually used as the primary authoring application within the enterprise authoring suite. It employs powerful technologies such as component content management , single-sourcing, reuse of objects, and multi-output publishing.

From this application, administrators also manage the Author-it Library (database) for the entire Author-it Cloud authoring suite.

Users perform tasks according to their role:

  • Administrators manage variables, folder permissions, and release states, and optionally work with structured authoring.
  • Authors work in a structured authoring environment to import, create, and edit content, and to publish from a single source to multiple output formats.
