Installation and Configuration of Resource Translator - Author-it On-Premises

Installation

1. Unzip the supplied ResourceTranslator.zip file and copy the unzipped folder into the required Plugins folder.

The unzipped folder contains the following files:

• ResourceTranslator.dll

• DocumentFormat.OpenXml.dll

• WindowsBase.dll

• ResourceTranslator.xml

Configuration

1. Open ResourceTranslator.xml and edit the XML to point to a user-writable location for the rules, folder configuration and folder for the log files. By default this is %localappdata% but can be changed to X:\ResourceTranslator or any other location.

2. Define the a variant called TV_UI_Language as follows:

   1. Open the library in Author-it Administrator.

   2. Select Variables > Maintain Variables…

   3. Click Add.

   4. In the Name box, type <TV_UI_Language>

   5. In the Type list, select List Of Values.

   6. Next to the Value drop down list, click the browse button (…).

   7. Click Add, and enter a language code, for example en-US.

   8. Repeat the previous step until you have all supported languages.

   9. When you are done, click OK.

   10. Select This is a variant criteria.

   11. Click OK.

   12. Click OK to close Manage Variables.

   13. Close Author-it Administrator.

3. Open your library and create a folder that will contain your imported software string topics. For example: _myStrings.
